Aurelia’s Personal Guide to Channeling Your Emotions in a Healthy Way
But here’s what I’ve learned—your feelings are valid, and learning to channel them in a healthy, loving way can be truly transformative. I want to share with you the ways I personally navigate my emotions, hoping they can help you too.
1. Create a Safe Space for Your Feelings
For years, I struggled with pushing my emotions aside, thinking I had to be "strong" all the time. But the more I ignored them, the louder they got. Now, I make it a point to create a safe space for myself to feel—whether that’s through journaling, sitting quietly with my thoughts, or taking a slow walk at the beach. When I acknowledge what’s going on inside without judgment, I find clarity and peace.
2. Move Your Body, Release the Tension
Dancing is one of my favorite ways to release stuck emotions. There have been days when I felt heavy with unspoken frustrations, and instead of bottling it up, I put on my favorite playlist and danced in my living room like nobody was watching. The shift in my energy was instant! Whether it’s dancing, stretching, or going for a brisk walk, movement always helps me process what I’m feeling.
3. The Power of Meditation & Deep Breathing
I used to think meditation was only for the super Zen and spiritually advanced. But when I started practicing deep breathing during moments of stress, I realized how powerful it was. There was a time when I felt completely overwhelmed with work and personal responsibilities. Instead of spiraling, I paused, closed my eyes, and took deep breaths. Within minutes, I felt calmer and more in control. Now, even just five minutes of breathwork makes a huge difference in my day.
4. Talk It Out—You Don’t Have to Hold It All In
I’m a coach, but I also need a support system. There have been moments when I felt stuck, and simply talking to a close friend or mentor helped me see things from a different perspective. One time, after a particularly tough day, I reached out to a friend and just let everything out. I wasn’t looking for solutions—I just needed to be heard. And that alone was healing.
I’ve always loved organizing parties and games, but I never realized how much creativity could help me process emotions until I started doodling in my journal one evening. What started as random scribbles turned into a deep emotional release. Now, I encourage others to find their creative outlet—whether it’s painting, singing, writing, or anything else that helps emotions flow.
6. Indulge in Self-Care Without Guilt
I used to feel guilty for taking breaks, thinking I always had to be productive. But I’ve learned that self-care isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Sometimes, my self-care looks like treating myself to my favorite meal, curling up with a K-drama, or simply saying no to things that drain me. Whatever it is, I remind myself that taking care of me allows me to show up better for others.
7. Shift Your Focus with Gratitude
Gratitude has been a game-changer for me. Even on my hardest days, I make it a point to find at least three things I’m grateful for. I remember one particularly rough week when everything felt like it was falling apart.
Instead of spiraling, I sat down and wrote:
1. The warmth of my morning Coffee
2. A kind message from a friend
3. The ability to start fresh tomorrow
It didn’t erase my struggles, but it reminded me that there’s always light, even in the darkest moments.
8. Set Boundaries & Protect Your Energy
This one took me a while to master. I used to say yes to everything, even when I was exhausted. But I’ve learned that setting boundaries isn’t selfish—it’s self-respect. Now, if something drains my energy, I pause and ask myself, "Do I really need to do this?" Learning to say no has been one of the most empowering things I’ve done for my emotional well-being.
You Deserve to Heal at Your Own Pace
Your emotions are not your enemy—they are messengers guiding you toward deeper self-awareness and healing. Take your time. Be patient with yourself. There’s no rush to "fix" anything because you are not broken. You are growing, evolving, and learning to navigate your emotions with love and grace.
